Who We Are:
Dunlap Fire Department is a hybrid fire department. While our training is conducted in the traditional model of the volunteer fire service, each call you respond to is paid, depending on your level of certification and rank. DFPD serves the village of Dunlap and the surrounding rural and suburban areas, comprising approximately 59 square miles. Our team includes men and women from all walks of life, including college students, carpenters, accountants, nurses, plumbers, engineers, teachers, farmers, and many other professions.
Requirements:
- 18 years of age
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Live in the Dunlap Fire Protection District or surrounding area
- Pass a physical drug screen, and perform the physical and mental tasks of the job
- Be a team player
- Be of good moral character
- Be able to act in a mature and responsible manner
- Be willing and able to devote the time to train and respond to calls
- Clear drug screen and background check
Physical Agility Requirements:
- Ability to lift 75 lbs
- Ability to properly wear PPE and SCBA
- Ability to function at height
- Ability to function in confined space
- Ability to use FF/rescue tools
- Ability to drag a charged hose line
- Physical Agility Test (Administered by DFPD officers or designated training staff)
- Lift a 75-lb weight using proper lifting technique to a waist level and carry 50 ft
- With assistance, don an SCBA (not required to wear mask) and walk on a treadmill at a 3mph pace for 10 minutes (equates to approximately 0.5 miles)
- Following instructions, climb a properly-secured ladder while wearing an SCBA (no mask) to the 2nd story of the training tower
- Crawl under an apparatus or other marker 16” AFH for a distance of 20 ft
- Utilizing an 8 lb sledge, perform 15 blows to a tire on the ground, raising the sledge to approximately shoulder height with each blow
- Drag a simulated hose line (75-lb weight) 50 ft

Acceptance as a member of the fire department is subject to the completion of the following items:

There are two options (available via the buttons below) for completing/submitting the application:
- Meeting the qualifications of the position
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
- Successful completion of a physical examination and drug screen
- Successful completion of an oral interview
